What are the best climbs in the Alps?

For those interested in classic alpine climbs – rock climbing, ice climbing, mixed mountaineering and wilderness skiing – I hope this might act as a source of ideas, even perhaps an inspiration.

It is important to say that this is not a guidebook of any kind. It is a collection of journal entries describing my personal experiences on some of the most historic, aesthetic, iconic – in short, best – routes in the region. Clearly anyone attempting these routes needs to be appropriately experienced in alpine climbing and equipped with an up-to-date guidebook and maps.

Finally, I must emphasize that this is not a profit-making venture. The only revenues generated through this site are the royalties on my book, Seven Climbs: Finding the finest climb on each continent, and these go to the Himalayan Trust UK, a charity dedicated to improving the health and education of the mountain people of Nepal (one of the poorest countries in the world). My motivation is just to share some wonderful experiences with others. I hope there is something here that might be of interest.
